Western was able to replace the centre three spans of the railroad bridge in Trois Pistoles, Quebec by developing a new method of bridge launching. Western’s method, which utilizes a specially design gantry crane, allows tremendous cost savings compared to alternative installation methods. The speed of the method allows Western to replace bridge spans within strict railroad time blocks without obstructions to the train schedules.
The entire project involved the replacement of three spans in total. Contractors included Western Mechanical, AECOM, Mammoet Cranes, Echafaudages Plus and RailTran Services.
