Western Millwrighting Projects
Western was contracted to complete a removal and re-installation of a complete papermill in Toronto, Ontario. Included in this project was the moving of the new Yankee dryer. Due to its size and weight the dryer was brought in the side wall of the plant and skidded into the new mill.
Western was contracted by Humbolt-Wedag to move a new Loache Mill into place within the cement mill of Illinois Cement in Lasalle, Illinois. Western supplied the supervision and equipment to complete this project and with the assistance of the onsite millwrights, Western completed the move on a Sunday afternoon.
Goreway Station is a natural gas-powered electrical generating facility with a power output of 874MW in Brampton, Ontario. Essential to the power production, a 356 ton steam generator and a 136 ton steam turbine are housed more than sixty-five feet above ground. Western performed the offload from a barge and installation of a 464,000 lbs Steam Turbine and a 293,000 lbs Generator in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario using a gantry and strandjacks. The installation portion of this project was completed in three days including setup and teardown.
Western provided design-assistance to Magellan Aerospace Corporation in building four generators and steam boiler for the Takoradi T3 power plant in Ghana, Africa, which will produce 133 megawatts of electricity.
